Intro to Drop Spinning (or Going Commando with Guido)
Hands On - 60 min - by Guido Stein
This session will be an introduction to drop spinning and cover some of the basics of how to get started with drop spindles. This session will review drop spindle technology, review of potential fiber you can use for drop spinning, describe starting with and without a leader, decribe pre-drafting, and describe basic plying. Guido will bring lots of fiber to play and spin with and as many spindles as he can to allow everyone get a chance to try it out.You can bring your own drop spindle if you would like to learn on your own.
This is really informal and if you already know how to spin and can contribute to the conversation, please feel free to join the fun. (p.s. 'Going Commando' is the name given to this session from previous Fibercamp and refers to starting your spinning without a leader)

I do spin, but it's always fun to try someone else's method and learn something new. I'll be there!

Definitely interested! I tried this for a couple of weeks after FiberCamp 2010, but I'm afraid I didn't keep it up. At least this time I can bring my own spindle!

I've been spinning for awhile, but I'm still a beginner... I'd love to get another set of tips!

As last year, I would like to assist. I'll see what I can do about bringing some spindles to share.
