Entrelac

Page history last edited by Katy 14 years, 3 months ago

Ever wanted to try knitting Entrelac but couldn't figure it out? Or maybe you tried it, but got sick of constantly turning your work? Then this is the session for you...

Full Description

This session is going to be a hands-on teaching class and will be limited to 10 people. We'll first cover how to knit backwards so that you don't have to constantly turn your work while doing entrelac, then we'll dive into the basics of the entrelac pattern.

Skills Needed

A basic understanding of knitting (i.e. know how to do a knit stich and how to read a pattern)

Materials Needed

Knitting needles and some yarn. We'll try to come out of class with a small sample swatch of entrlac.

POST CLASS INFO

I've uploaded the pattern sheet with (I *hope*) all the twiddly errors fixed, with the added bonus of arrows indicating direction of work if you are doing the knit backwards technique I taught in class. It's available here (an Excel file). There was one change in the actual pattern itself for the End/Top Triangles, so be sure to check it out.

For those who didn't get it, I'm taerowyn on ravelry and @gmail.com for email.

Thanks for a great session (and weekend!) and happy knitting!

So many classes... so little time... I am experienced with Entrelac but would love some tips on knitting backwards. I hope I can attend this class.

If I can get to this (ie, if I'm not teaching at the same time), I definitely want to come. Entrelac is on the list of knitting techniques that I want to learn in 2010.

I would be interested in this depending on the schedule. I've knit one small entrelac item (Quant) and have some questions about picking up the stitches. And I'm very curious about the knitting backwards part!

Sounds interesting - I"m particularly intrigued by the idea of knitting backwards!

The knitting backwards part will definitely be the first 15-20 min of the class so if some people wnat to dip in for that and then check out another session, that's fine. Plus, there'll be time if people want to just catch me between sessions or in other downtime, I can pass along the trick to it.
