Full Description
We'll go through the basics of fit; how to determine what actual measurements the pattern will yield; and how to modify the pattern to ensure your best fit.
Will also include the theory behind bust-darts and some practical mechanics of how to add them at an existing pattern.
If there's time, we can also measure each other!
Skills Needed
Must know how to knit and have a desire to knit garments. Also helpful to know rudimentary math (particularly, algebra), but not necessarily required.
Materials Needed
Bring a notepad and writing implement - you'll want to take notes, as I won't have handouts! Also, if you want to be measured, bring a measuring-tape.
If you want to, feel free to bring in a garment or two you've already knit, about which you're unsatisfied with the fit. Also, if you have a pattern in mind but you're unsure it will fit or be flattering, bring it in and we can troubleshoot it together.

I definitely hope to be able to attend this. My kids are afraid to "commission" sweaters because my fitting skills are so mediocre.

I'd like to learn how to get something to really fit in the first place since I have two sweaters queued and ready to start. I tend to make things too big/boxy in the blocking phase because I worry my finished pieces will be too small.

I'm interested in this schedule permitting. I've knit lots of sweaters of the decades (eek!) and I don't think a single one of them has ever really fit welll.

I would love to attend this class. My first sweater was horribly shapeless.

Hope you can demo the "short rows at the back of the neck" technique that is often mentioned to keep sweaters from riding up.

Deborah -- It was great to meet you yesterday. Do you know what time this session will take place today? Thanks!
